Belt bags a.k.a fanny packs (except for my UK friends!) are quite a controversial topic. Some people are thrilled the style has returned, some think it’s dumb. I have to say, during this pandemic my dorky belt bag (fanny pack) has become a lifesaver. I don’t want to worry about having to wipe down my purse after I go outside and run errands. Luckily, I don’t run errands much these days – I get everything delivered – but when I do have to go, I strap on my bag, my gloves, my mask, and I am out the door. I currently have an old Jansport one that I used for running. Going forward, I’m going to invest in a more fashionable one to wear out and about.
The reason I chose this picture (above) as the introduction pic is because this is my view of COVID-19 and the havoc it’s leaving in its path. I’m nervous about all these states opening up – is it too early, will there be more cases due to this early opening, will another round hit in the fall, will I ever get to travel again? I’m sure everyone is feeling this way, but in preparing my mind for re-emergence, I want to see it as the caterpillar emerging from the cocoon as a beautiful butterfly. That’s why I want to get a new belt bag – it will help me feel better about this new world we have now. Ok that’s enough… on to the bags!

Red is one of my favorite colors and a pop of it is just what is needed right now. It’s also a pretty close dupe for the Gucci Matelasse Leather Belt. The two other positives it has going for it are that it’s from Amazon and the price is fantastic! This is my number 1 pick for belt bags for summer.
This is more expensive that the amazon one, but it’s 100% leather. It’s also detachable so you can put this into a larger purse if you get tired of it as a belt bag. This will add a professional air to a weird trend.
Here is a fun one from Jansport. I can personally attest to the longevity of these bags. I’ve had my current one for at least 15 years. The belt part is easy to adjust, too.
This is another professional looking one – but at a much better price than number 2. I like the attention to detail on the front of the bag. The only thing I wonder about is the ease of extending or shortening the belt.
This is a good one with which to ease into summer. The woven texture on the front evokes summer hats to me. It looks like it could hold a lot of things as well. The only point that gives me pause is the belt itself again – will it be able to fit everyone’s body shape? Don’t know, but it’s worth giving it a try.
This one is a cool addition – you can ‘create’ it yourself. You pick the silhouette, the color, and the straps. Yes, straps because this can be a belt bag OR a regular cross body. Right now it’s on sale, but it won’t last long because belt bags are definitely going to be all the rage after this.
This one is a bit different, but might be better for some people because it attaches to your personal belt. It’s also suede. I like that it’s a cross between boho and professional. You could get away with wearing it to work and even out – if that will still be a thing.
And here’s the best one because it’s P I N K! It’s great for summer with the color and it seems larger than most of the other ones on this round-up. It’s another that has a questionable belt, but I say it’s worth it to go for it.
There you have it – 10 belt bags that will help you get back into the swing of things once the world starts opening up again. I’m very excited for that to happen, but also scared of what that means all at the same time, like everyone I’m sure. However, these bags will help ease a bit of the anxiety – you can keep your gloves on and not worry about your bag! What do you guys think? Are you into this trend, do you think it’ll work for you as your city opens up again? Let me know in the comments.
