Dresses are what I live in during the summer months. As you all know by now, I always run warmer than the average person, so dresses are perfect for me. Now I wear shorts under them so I don’t get chafe my thighs. I find Jockey ones to be my favorites. I just bought some new ones to replace mine from last summer. Anyhoo, I digress, summer is creeping up on us and it’s time to refresh outfits. Read on for my top 8!

Green Old Navy Dress

The dress I’m wearing above is from Old Navy and quite comfortable. It seems to run a little large, so go with one size below your usual. I’m wearing a medium. I like this dress a lot, but since I already have it, I wanted to round up some dresses that I don’t have.

Dresses for Summer 2019

1. Amazon – LILBETTER – Women V-Neck Polka Dot Print Spaghetti Strap Boho Long Maxi Dress | 2. Berrymoda – V-neck Open Back Button Dress |
3. Target – Who What Wear – Women’s Leopard Print Short Sleeve Scoop Neck Asymmetric A Line Dress | 4. Nordstrom – 1901 – Stripe Fit & Flare Dress | 5. River Island – Cream puff sleeve button front mini dress |
6. Nordstrom – Avec Les Filles – Stripe Sundress | 7. Gap – Perfect Sleeveless Tie-Waist Shirtdress in TENCEL™ | 8. And Other Stories – Cross Front Dress

To be honest, number 1 wasn’t my find. I was watching “Dress Up Buttercup’s” insta stories and saw her wearing the cutest polka dot dress with POCKETS. I thought, I must have this. Imagine my surprise to find it’s from Amazon and cheap! I like the way she styled it with a belt to make it a little more fitted, so I’ll probably style it that way as well.

Number 2 is darling and I bought it. I’m still waiting for it to be shipped to me. If I ordered from BerryModa again, I’d pay extra for the faster shipping because it’s taken about 15 days for me to get it. As of this writing, I still haven’t received it, but it should be in by Monday, May 20th at 8 pm. Check out my instagram to find out when I do receive it! I think the color of this dress is perfect for summer. And, let’s face it, I’m all about the stripes. As you can see, I’ve chosen a number of dresses with stripes again. I just can’t help myself! I plan on wearing these with cute espadrilles… that I need to purchase.

Brace yourself, number 3 is from T A R G E T! Can you believe it? It’s from the “Who What Wear” line which is a little more fashionable than other lines there. I love that it’s a leopard print, since that trend is still going strong. The ruffles also give a fun aspect to the dress, making it different from the others. This would be a fun day to night dress, especially if you’re going dancing. I’m betting this would twirl really well.

Number 4 is another stripe dress, but this one has flutter sleeves, like my green Old Navy one. I love the way this looks nautical and like a vintage dress, but is entirely new. The bow tie detail around the waist is another great touch. This would be a wonderful work outfit paired with nude pumps.

Number 5 is a bit of a wild card here. The square neck with the pouffy sleeves is a definite departure for me, but this is such a fun dress. I’ve heard that square neck tops are “in” for summer, so grab this one while you can. I’ve never liked much from River Island until I saw this dress.

The last of the stripe dresses is number 6 from Avec Les Filles. On first glance it looks very similar to the 1901 one (number 4), but there are subtle differences. This one has spaghetti straps, a pretty v-neck, and looks to be longer than the other one. Part of the reason I probably like this is that it’s from a French sounding designer. Is it really French? I don’t think so, but I do like the idea of being a French girl, and this dress helps with that! Pair it with some ballet flats for a real Parisian vibe.

Number 7 is an everyday dress that will keep you cool as you head to work or to run your errands. Gap hasn’t been knocking it out of the park in years, but this one is a great sort of basic dress to have in your rotation. The TENCEL™ will make the fabric super soft, which is my number one criteria in clothing.

If you’re looking for a pop of color to brighten up this summer look no further than number 8. Why did I chose this one? First off, the color is gorgeous. If you’re into tanning on vacation, this will look pretty, and if you’re not, it will still look great! The main thing that drew me to the dress is the neckline. I love the halter criss cross action. It’s not a neckline you see a lot in the summer, so I like that it’s a little bit different.

There you have it. My top 8 picks for summer dresses. Keep an eye on instagram for my updates on the fit of the dresses I do buy. If you end up buying any let me know! And let me know in the comments what your fave ones are.
