We’re hitting mid-August. Some of the kids are starting school soon… I’m betting some of the mothers out there are getting excited to send them back, too! This time of year always makes me happy. Most people think the New Year is the time when everything is new, but I beg to differ! I will always think that August/September is the start of a new year, even though I haven’t been back to school in years! The excitement hits me when I see the set-ups for the notebooks, the clothing, and even the dorm accessories. We’re going to do a bit of a series here on ATPT of our version of back-to-school necessities starting with handbags we love for fall.
There’s something about cooler weather that screams dark colors to me. Could be the sad fact that the days are getting shorter and there’s not much daylight when you get out of work. Or, it could just be that it’s more acceptable to wear them in the winter compared to summer. You’ll be able to see how I embraced it with three choices in black and three in different colors.
In addition to the color choices, I’ve included different price points. I had to throw in some designer picks because they’re so gorgeous, along with the cheaper bags that look similar to high fashion ones.
Not everyone can afford this Louis Vuitton…
But, this Rebecca Minkoff, is more affordable…
And this Michael Kors is a good buy as well.
The Kors one can fit a laptop computer into it, but some of us don’t need to lug one of those home all the time. I’m the person who usually throws way too much junk into my bag, so the smaller the better for me. That’s another reason for picking the bags below…
1 – BP – Metal Handle Faux Leather Satchel | Circles on bags are very in this season thanks to Chloé. It would come in hand on the subway while I’m juggling other bags – namely the other bag carrying my workout clothes!
2 – BP – Faux Leather Appliqué Mini Crossbody Bag | I like how cute this is and small. It’s a little bit of whimsy for the day ahead. How can you look at this bag and not think it’s cute? It’s also a little like the Fendi that is a-freaking-dorable!
3 – Stella McCartney – Textured Faux Leather Crossbody Bag | Love the camel color for winter because it will go nicely with navy pea coats. I also love that it’s a faux leather. For those of you who aren’t aware, Stella is a vegan and has been one since she was a child. This is definitely a great choice for those of us who are searching for that perfect vegan bag.
4 – 3.1 Philip Lim – Alix Velvet Clutch | Velvet is hot right now. We’re in the midst of a 90’s revival if you didn’t know; velvet, chokers, Doc Martins, and slip dresses are all back, baby! The one I’m most excited about is the velvet purse trend. Yes, this is a major splurge, but it’s so cute, especially with the clasp detail. It looks like a chic paperclip to me and I love it.
5 – Charming Charlie – Jaleesa Studded Clutch | This clutch would be great to throw into your bag or use on its own. I love the rocker type look to it with the studs. It reminds me of the Valentino Demilune medium studded leather shoulder bag without the price tag. It’s perfect for the office and then transitioning to date night or club night afterwards.
6 – Modalu – Pippa Shoulder Peach | I’m not the only one obsessed with Kate and Pippa Middleton? Well, formerly Middleton? We all saw the pictures of Pippa’s big wedding day, and how gorgeous she looked. It reminded me that I was in love with this bag she had from Modalu, so I looked it up. Even though this one is in peach, I think it would be a nice counter to the usual blacks and navy’s of fall. It’ll be like keeping a part of summer with you into the fall. The structure of the bag gives it a nice weight for keeping everything you need in hand for fall.
What do you guys think? Are there any you want to run out and buy? Do you own any of these? Let me know in the comments below! Can’t wait to hear from you all.
I love all these bag choices. That Philip Lim bag is fab!
I totally agree! That clasp is what got me!
Yes 90s are surely back and hopefully here to stay, esp. the choker trend which I’m obsessed with. Great bag picks, esp. that 3.1 Philip Lim clutch!
Ha! I’m not entirely sure I’m excited about seeing the trend again. Makes me feel old! LOL. Who knew the 3.1 Phillip Lim would be the fave! So glad to hear you liked my picks too. 🙂
