Fun Espadrilles for Spring and Summer

Espadrilles are made for spring and summer and I’m so excited to break them out.  I recently bought the cutest pair of Soludos, the ciao bella ones above.  I’ve always wanted a pair of cute espadrilles but thought they were rather boring.  These new ones with the sayings on them are perfect for me… and I’ve found some more that might be just right for you!

Espadrilles started as peasant footwear back in the 14th century in Spain and the southern region of France.  The style became fashionable for women in the 1940s.  In the 70s, Yves Saint Laurent created the wedge heel espadrilles.  One thing the heels and flats have in common are the jute, natural fiber, soles.  I thought they’d be slightly uncomfortable on my sensitive feet.  They’re not, they just sometimes feel like something is sticking into your foot.  A way to combat this is to put a thin sock/liner in the shoe.  I am a fan of gekks, which I’ve put into the shoe.

Now, you might not want to go with soludos espadrilles, and that’s fine.  There are many other choices to behold…

1. Macy’s – Circus by Sam Edelman, Leni Espadrille Flats | 2. Macy’s – Michael Michael Kors Kendrick Slip-On Espadrille flats | 3. Gap – Metallic Loafer Espadrilles | 4. Soludos – Ciao Bella Platform Smoking Slipper | 5. Tom’s – Spiced Coral Stripe Women’s Deconstructed Alpargatas | 6. Vince Camuto – Tembie Slip-On Sneaker

These are all fun spring and summer picks.  I love #1 because they’re just too cute.  I could definitely see anyone wearing them to brunch, or even out for a night on the town.  Be prepared though – I’m betting a lot of women will be commenting on how cute they are and asking where you found them!

The Michael Michael Kors ones are a great dupe for the pricy Chanel ones.  And who doesn’t love a dupe for Chanel?

Numbers 3 & 6 are similar in color, and tame compared to the others.  These are more for the person who wants to wear comfy, breathable, summer shoes to the office, but still wants to look professional. #3 is a rose gold metallic, which is sure to be a hit with white jeans.  Number 5 would look great with any jeans or black slacks, and a pretty blouse.

#5 are Toms – which make you feel good when you buy them since they send a pair of shoes to a child in need.  Beyond that, the stripes are just darn cute.  I would pair these with jeans, jean shorts, even a white dress when you’re off on a bike ride.

What do you guys think?  Are you in the market for flat espadrilles?  Do you own any?  What are your faves?  Leave a comment below and let me know.
