If you’re ready to sit down to a meal of corned beef and cabbage and wash it down with a Guinness, you’re not alone. Most of America will pretend to be Irish today and celebrate St. Patrick, the saint of the island of Ireland. In fact, today, at 3:30 pm in Cobh, Ireland, they will be having a parade, same as cities and towns around America.

I’d rather be in Cobh celebrating! The history there is amazing; it’s the last stop of the Titanic before it went on it’s ill-fated voyage. It was also where the survivors from the Lusitania were taken, and sadly, the victims are buried in the cemetery. So, in fact, it’s a rather sad history. But, this town is so beautiful. I was there a number of years ago and had a fantastic time there.
However, it’s not the only place to visit, if you have the chance. When I was there, I also visited the Blarney Stone, which everyone should do in their lifetime. It’s at Blarney Castle. And, the creepy thing is, you walk up stairs, then you lie down and someone holds on to you as you scootch out on your back, and tilt your head back to kiss the rock.

Scary? Yes. Worth it? Definitely! It’s something one should really do in their lifetime. I won’t go on and on anymore — you have some Irish dancing to get to. So…

I think this is an appropriate quote to leave you all with today; “There are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were.”

I like this especially about kissing the Blarney Stone.
