Swimsuit-Time-Title

Have you found your perfect swimsuit yet?  Since the first official day of summer has passed (boo!) and the days are now getting shorter again, it’s time to turn our attention to the best part of summer… swimming.  Yes, yes, I know that’s only my opinion, some people think lounging by the pool, sipping a mai tai, and tanning is the best part of summer.  Regardless, I think we can all agree that we want to look great no matter if we’re swimming or hanging out.  Read on for my top picks for a perfect swimsuit!

Tankini – After going on the cruise wearing my cute one piece suits, I’ve realized that it’s hella difficult to go to the bathroom in them once you’ve been swimming or hot tubbing.  This is something I hadn’t thought of since I was a kid spending every summer in the pool.  No one wants to be stuck in the cold air conditioned bathroom, with the straps of the suit twisted, trying to yank it up while doing crazy contortions.  That’s why I’m turning to the tankini with any type of bottoms you’d like; shorts, a cute swim skirt, bikini bottoms, the high waisted ones, or even the Brazilian if you’re feeling bold!

Bikini – I will admit I’ve never worn a bikini in my life!  Can you believe that?  It’s not even because I’m afraid I’ll be fat shamed or something like that, they don’t appeal to me.  However, on some women they look fantastic!  If you want to rock one of these, and honestly, this red striped version with the frilly bottom is adorbs, you go for it!

One Piece – As I stated in the tankini portion, I’m a huge fan of the one pieces and usually rock those.  I feel more comfortable in them because I’m not 100% cool with showing off my stomach.  I had fibroid surgery about five years ago now and have lovely scars!  Plus, I like that I don’t have to worry about sucking in my stomach all the time.  I can also go in the ocean without worrying a strong wave will pull off my top or even have it float away from me. Yes, laugh, but you’re not gonna be laughing when it happens to you!

Fitness – I’m including this swimsuit for those of us who want to look great while swimming laps, or jumping into the waves, or even trying stand up paddleboarding (SUP).  I’ll be honest with you… I tried it for the first time in Hawaii, Waikiki specifically, with my sister and brother-in-law.  First time I stood up, I fell right off into the ocean.  I was quite horrible at it!  The waves make it much more difficult than you would think when you see people doing it.  Of course, my sister had no problem.  She was up and paddling like she’d been born to it.  Turns out you have you relax and let your legs ride the board with the waves.  Oh hell no.  Relax?  When I’m on a board and waves are coming at me?  Was this instructor nuts?  Finally, he took us to the ‘pool’ area that had rocks as a breaker from the waves and I was able to stand and paddle for a while.  I was sure glad I had on my Speedo because I didn’t have to worry about anything showing that shouldn’t be showing, if you get my drift!
