Lavender – the word itself conjures images of beautiful flowers, or the young girl from “Matilda” who gets thrown around the classroom by Trunchbull. If you don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, see this. However, I digress. The runways for 2018 were all about the lavender and I’m embracing it.
I never thought I’d be into lavender, but because this shirt has a fun typography saying on it, I’m all in. Of course that makes it sound like I don’t like any other lavender ideas, but I do. I’ve included some ideas below that range from dresses, to sweaters, to swim suits, to even a pair of sneakers if you want to bring the color into your wardrobe slowly.
1. Chicwish – Charming Flavor Crochet Shirt | 2. Banana Republic – Machine-Washable Merino Vee | 3. Chicwish – Go Flower Picking Cami Dress | 4. Express – Petite Zip Front Rolled Sleeve Blouse | 5. Old Navy – Sueded Classic Sneakers for Women |
6. Old Navy – Plus-Size Twist-Front Long-Line Swim Top
There’s something about a nice pastel for spring. It’s like you’re a walking macaron! Perhaps not everyone wants to be that, but it’s a fun color especially after the dreariness of winter. It’s been pretty long and this lavender just brightens up the room. It also is a happy color. I know most people don’t think of colors in terms of happiness, but it’s true.
According to Bourne Creative, lavender “suggests uniqueness and specialness without the deep mystery of the color purple.” Not exactly happiness, but close. Also, according to the same website, “The lighter lavender shades have a sacred place in nature, with orchid, lilac, and violet flowers considered delicate and precious.” And beautiful, of course.
Does that mean you’ll be considered a beautiful flower? Perhaps! Why not find out by trying this trend? Let’s see what you guys come up with! Let me know in the comments below – or by tagging me on Instagram – @abovetheplumtree
Here are a few more shots of the shirt from Banana Republic Factory that I love.
