At my work we have this day where we devote three hours to doing public service. It’s one of my favorite days, actually, and not just because we don’t have to go back to work afterward! I love that all around the globe our company is helping our communities. Many companies like Discovery Communications, Deloitte, and Nielsen.
This year I’m going to Brooklyn to help kids in elementary school paint a mural at their school. We received an email this week telling us that we will need to dress in old clothes and our Impact Day t-shirt. I don’t have many old shorts. I don’t have a ton of shorts in general. It’s not exactly work appropriate to wear shorts to the office, even a creative, digital one! Therefore, on one of the most humid days in NYC so far, I ventured forth to Old Navy in Herald Square for jean shorts at a good price.
These jean shorts fit loosely, which is exactly what I wanted. The price was great too, on sale for $15.99! They’re an 8, but since they’re curvy, they aren’t hugging my thighs, even though they might look like it in the pic. I also like the rips. I think the reason why I’m so into the ripped look is because my parents never allowed me to get them when they were so cool in the 80s. Now that I have my own money and am an adult, I can spend money on pre-ripped items. I also think if I get paint on them, it’ll enhance their coolness. Maybe I’ll do it on purpose!
The other item I got was a romper. I’ve had a love/hate affair with rompers my entire life. Sometimes you love that it’s just one piece… only not when you have to go to the bathroom in a really cold toilet stall. Then having to take off everything really blows. However, as soon as I put it on, I had to get it. It’s orange with a pattern and I feel like it lights up my entire face. The outfit makes me happy. So I bought it and got a great deal — it was only $24.99. Online it says it’s $30!
Head out to your Old Navy for cheap steals. Guys, I barely thought to look in Old Navy lately because I’ve been very meh on their stock. Summer is the time for this store, I guess!
(Also, not endorsed by Old Navy, just fangirling!)
