Outdoor… it’s calling to you, saying come out and relax. Hopefully you have a space you can spruce up. Personally, I don’t, but a long time reader sent in a request for this topic and I was all too eager to imagine what I would do if I had the room.

Small Space

First up are the choices for a small space – like a balcony or a fire escape, if you’re allowed to put stuff out there. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to put stuff on my fire escape, but if I could, I’d definitely get a small bistro set.

Outdoor small spaces

1. CB2 – Cana Outdoor Corner Chair | 2. Frontgate – Paris Bistro Side Chairs | 3. World Market – All Weather Wicker Woven Amelie Outdoor Dining Table | 4. Bed Bath & Beyond – Safavieh – Griffen 3-Piece Balcony Dining Cabinet Set in Ash Grey

Number 1 looks comfy comfy comfy. I also like how clean the lines are. Keeping it out when it rains is probably a bad idea, because I can imagine it will get all yucky, but it’s probably easy to bring it in. Or at least the cushions.

Numbers 2 and 3 are my ode to France and the bistro tables I love sitting at every time I visit. I’ve seen that they’re still setting them out, and people are slowly going back to eating there, but wouldn’t it be nice to have your own slice of Paris outside your door? That would be my pick!

Number 4 is fantastic for a very small area, and you still get a table. I like the grey ash color because it’s not a color usually associated with summer, but it works.

Lots of Outdoor Space

Lots of Outdoor space Picks

1. Joss & Main – Livingston 4 Piece Rattan Sofa Seating Group with Cushions | 2. Wayfair – Teardrop Patio Chair with Cushions | 3. Walmart – Clarksville Propane Fire Pit Table | 4. Overstock – Oyster Bay Outdoor Wicker Round Bar Table (ONLY) with Ice Pail | 5. Rugs.com – Jill Zarin Outdoor Rug | 6. West Elm – Cotton Canvas Poufs

The reason I chose number 1 is because it looks comfy – which is definitely something I would look for in an outdoor set – and it comes with 4 pieces, which includes the coffee table. The fire pit (number 3) would also be a good choice if you don’t want to put the coffee table in the center of the grouping.

Number 2 – the egg chair is just darn cute and I’ve always been drawn to them. I have some pillows below that you could dress it up with to make it even cozier.

Number 4 is just the table – which would be fantastic if you’re having a party since the ice bucket is built in to the table. It would also be great to use if you’re hanging at home alone and want to keep your ice cream cold. No judgment here, folks!

The rug (number 5) might be part of the accessory group, but I thought it would be good to include with the larger space crew because it’s more of something I think a larger area calls for it. It would look great with the set from number 1.

The poofs (number 6) are adorable and will add a kick of fun to your outdoor area.

Accessories

Fun outdoor accessories

1. Wayfair – Cotton Throw | 2. Bed Bath & Beyond – Pillow Perfect® – Swaying Palms Capri Oblong Indoor/Outdoor Throw Pillows | 3. Stein Mart – NEWPORT – Indoor/Outdoor Flamingo Jute Trim Decorative Pillow | 4. Stein Mart – STRATFORD HOME – Indoor/Outdoor Cabana Stripe Decorative Pillow Set of 2| 5. Stein Mart – Newport – Indoor/Outdoor Sunshine Stripe Decorative Pillow | 6. Wayfair – 2 Piece Padula Decorative Metal Bird Cage Set | 7. Terrain – Ridged Ceramic Citronella Candle

Ahh, the way to make your outdoor space really sparkle. The throw (number 1) is cotton and good for indoor and outdoor usage. This is one time where I like the fringe on the end of the blanket. It feels boho and summery to me.

The pillows – now I might have gone a wee bit crazy here, but I’ve been noticing that pillows really make something go from good to great. These are really fun picks because if you can’t go fun and colorful in the summer when the heck can you? I am also digging all the flamingo patterns out right now. It screams summer to me, along with the color yellow.

Number 6 is a definite weird one to include here, but hear me out… I think they would look so fun and different if you put candles (real or flameless) or plants inside and leave them on the ground around your seating area.

Last up are citronella candles – a must for any outdoor activity, even sitting. You don’t want bugs to ruin your experience! And these ones are rather sophisticated – I wouldn’t have known they were citronella ones if I hadn’t seen the name of them on the website. It’s a great way to hide and still be protected.

There ya have it. My picks for outdoor living whether you have a small balcony or a large patio, you can take bits and bobs from either. Let me know what you think!
