Floral prints are usual a staple for spring and summer. I beg to differ – there’s something romantic about florals for fall. A good rust, wine, or pumpkin color with flowers screams romantic to me. It’s also the best time to find a beau for the winter, if you’re looking for one of those. Here in NYC where I’m based, they call the time from September to the end of October the “cuffing” season. Because you’re trying to get cuffed to someone before winter hits. That’s why I think floral pieces in your wardrobe can definitely put the romance into your dates as you look for your winter person. And if you’re already coupled, add these pieces to bring even more romance into your life!
When I was visiting my sister and her husband (above) in Chicago, we both were in florals. I was in a floral long sleeved shirt from Zara while she was in this cute red floral dress. She doesn’t remember where she got it from, which is weird because she usually remembers where she gets everything. I digress.
These florals are what inspired this post. Look how cute they are together. It reminded me that for some reason florals are romantic. Here are my picks for some romantic looks to wear this fall.
1. Wayf – Mariah Maxi Dress | 2. Zara – Print Wrap Jumpsuit | 3. Zimmerman – Laelia diamond trim print cotton dress | 4. Zara – Print Wrap Dress | 5. Saint Laurent – Zoe Pump | 6. Zara – Midi skirt | 7. Astr The Label – Rhonda Top
1 – The ruffles and waist enhancing string tie harkens back to the 1910s, but with a modern sensibility. The mustard color is on trend for fall. An addition of a black cardigan (similar to the picks from 5 New Pieces for Your Back to School Wardrobe) would give it a boho vibe. It’s a dress that can transition from day to night easily with the addition of a black biker jacket and heels, or boots.
2 – If you haven’t noticed lately jumpsuits are taking the fashion world by storm and I’m a fan. Zara has surprised me with their fall offerings, in a great way, and this is one of them. This jumpsuit has the flowers motif with a great black background. It would look gorgeous with a spiked heel to give it an edge.
3 – I am in love with this dress from Zimmerman. It’s definitely a splurge at $1,249.00. However, it’s so dreamy. I would pair this with a black biker jacket and combat boots to take the cuteness out. It would also be great for a date with a nude heel.
4 – Another Zara pick! This pink jumps out at you and screams flirty and fun while the flowers add the romance factor. I’ll have to try it on to see if the wrap part stays in place for women with larger busts (like me). Diane von Furstenberg seems to think wrap dresses look great on everyone, but I beg to differ. Usually I love a faux wrap dress. I’m willing to make an exception for this one! I’d pair this with black tights, a black blazer, and knee high boots.
5 – File this heel under splurge but it’s too pretty to leave out. The price is on the high end at $895.00 but it’s an investment piece. This is a shoe that would look amazing with a LBD any time of the year.
6 – I’m throwing in a midi skirt in red because red is the color of love. At least that’s what *they* say! This would be a great choice for a hay ride or wander through a corn maze with cowboy boots, a sweater, and your boo.
7 – Lastly, this shirt. It has such romantic vibes. Be sure to click the link to check out the back of the shirt. It might be even more gorgeous than the front. It’s like a frothy surprise. To balance out the overly girly vibe, I’d throw on some frayed jeans and a great boot or slides.
I’m going to leave you with a few pics of the floral pieces that launched this blog post. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below about florals!
