It’s summer dresses time already? But there was just a snow storm in May! Yes, the world is mixed up in so many ways right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start shopping for the summer you want. At least that’s my opinion. I’ve rounded up 10 cute dresses for summer that will be great for easing back into wearing regular clothes after these shelter in place orders finally expire. I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to rush into anything! I’ll be the last one back into society – and I’ll look super cute doing it.

Free People Summer dresses

Number 1

This dress is called convertible because you can make it into a skirt by taking off the straps. Or you could make it a strapless dress. How cool is that? I love this pink color – it seems that all summer dresses this year are going to be of the baby doll variety. They do tend to make you look like you’re wearing a bit of a muumuu , but after being at home all this time, it might be a great way to ease into wearing real clothes again.

H&M summer dresses flower print

Number 2

This leaf pattern is a fun change from the leopard print we’ve been seeing for a few years now. The ruffled straps make the dress a bit more fun and flirty than it might otherwise be. It is a midi-skirt, which might not be exactly what you’re looking for in the hot, sticky, summer months, but it’s still cute and inexpensive.

Summer Dresses striped

Number 3

I love a good stripe! I’m sure you know that about me if you’ve been following the blog for a while. This dress is perfect if you’re heading back to work during the summer. It also feels nautical – so throw on a hat and take to the sea!

Asos fun summer dresses

Number 4

This reminds me of a painting. It’s not my usual type of dress beyond it being cinched at the waist. I even like the Peter Pan collar and the short slight puffy sleeve. It feels fun and flirty – exactly what I like in my summer dresses.

summer dresses from amazon

Number 5

This is called the “Plain Office Work Dress” but I think it’s far from plain. I would wear this to work, out on a date, or even as a beach cover up to go from beach to restaurant. The tulip skirt of the dress is very becoming and makes the fact that it’s a maxi seem not so much maxi.

Yellow summer dresses

Number 6

Here’s another dress I wouldn’t normally pick. It’s rather dressy for my normal day to day, but the color makes it so happy I had to include it. I can see this being a great choice to wear to a wedding… even if you’re joining by Zoom. (And hey, if you’re looking for a cool Zoom background check out this post!)

Tie Dye summer dresses

Number 7

This even looks like the beach. I would use this one as a cover up as well as wearing it for normal everyday use. It looks so flowy and free. And it has pockets! That’s surely the way to a gal’s heart… at least this one!

Goddess - summer dresses

Number 8

The name of this dress is “Goddess” and I can see why. Talk about a becoming cut with the empire waist style. This is another one that would be great to wear to a wedding, the beach, or even just around the house. It seems like it would fit like a nightgown. Who wouldn’t like spending the day in their nightgown? Day gown? HA!

Athleta coral summer dresses

Number 9

I find Athleta dresses to be fantastic summer dresses. I practically lived in mine all last summer. Just throw a pair of shaper shorts underneath and everything is perfect.

summer shirt dresses

Number 10

A shirt dress is a nice, easy to throw on option for summer. I like how this one has buttons along with the tie waist. It really will bring attention to your waist. And it’s another one with pockets. This is another option that would be great to wear when you finally head back into the office.

And there you have it. My 10 top picks for summer dresses. Even if we’re all stuck inside, you can rock these dresses and not have to worry about wearing shaper shorts underneath. I mean, how much walking are you going to be doing in your house? I hear it’s nice to dress up sometimes. I say a lot of these dresses will be like wearing comfy clothes, too.
