Swimsuit season is upon us.  We’re in June, guys!  June calls for hot and humid temps and great swimsuits.  Everyone has their own favorite type, be it a one piece, a bikini, or a tankini.  I’ve realized a one piece is not that cure-all I’ve always thought it was.  It’s hell when you have to go to the bathroom after you’ve been swimming!  If you are going to lay out and not take a dip, they’re perfect.

Swimsuits also fill most women with trepidation because we never think we’re thin enough.  I’m the first hand raised for feeling this.  I love the women who embrace their size no matter what it is.  It’s so hard to do.  This year I’m going to wear a bikini for the first time!  Now that it’s written I have to make it so.  You guys see it!  It’s going to be a high-waisted bottom with a bikini top and my fibroid scar will be on display.  No shame there.  No shame ANYWHERE!!!  Now… on to the picks!

Swimsuits

1. H&M – Bikini Top & H&M – Bikini Bottoms Regular waist | 2. Leith – Plunge Reversible One-Piece Swimsuit | 3. BCA – Cutout One-Piece Swimsuit | 4. Onia – Danielle One Piece Swimsuit |
5. La Blanca – Petal Pusher Top & Bottom | 6. Becca – Crochet One-Piece Swimsuit |
7. H&M – Cut-out Swimsuit | 8. Becca – Ballerina One-Piece Swimsuit | 9. Target – Mossimo Women’s Mesh Inset Triangle Bikini Top & Bottom | 10. Ted Baker London – Henika One-Piece Swimsuit | 11. Old Navy – Knotted-Tie Swim Top & Bottom

As you can tell, I’m not a huge fan of bikini’s.  I only have 3 in the roundup, and they aren’t the basic itty bitty bikini.  Those look great on a number of women; I’ve never been that into them.  Just a personal choice.  I like the ones I’ve chosen for this swimsuit roundup because they’re different.  Number 1 is more of a sporty look with a great stripe.  I like how the top is more of a sports bra.  Numbers 9 and 11 are somewhat similar with the bottoms.  I love the high-rise of the swimsuit bottom.  That makes me feel more confident.  The tops of those two swimsuits are more of a traditional bikini top, and will look great on any body.

My picks for one pieces run the gamut.  The crochet one (number 6) would also be a great one to pair with denim shorts or a skirt for a music festival.  Numbers 3 and 7 are anything but plain – sure, they’re black, but look at the detail on them.  Number 3 has a cut-out in the front, and a great strappy back to the swimsuit.  For number 7, I love the openings on the stomach area along with the mesh.  It gives a definite hint of sexiness without being overt.  Another one with great detail is number 8.  Look at that intricate design work.  It’s beautiful.  I’ve also never seen a swimsuit in that color!

The plain Jane swimsuit – number 2 – is reversible!  Yes, you can have black one day and silver the next.  It’s anything but plain now, am I right?

My two fancy picks are numbers 4 and 10.  Number 4 is from Danielle Bernstein’s “We Wore What” swimsuit collab with Onia.  I gotta say, I’m in love with the stripe, the cute belt, and the cups at the bust area.  It has a great retro feel to it.  I would throw on a pair of sunglasses and boom, I’m channeling Marilyn Monroe.

If you’re into ruffles, number 10 is the one for you.  It’s so darn cute!  The ruffles really up the allure of the suit taking it from boring to stunning.  It would look fantastic with a big sunhat and this Cult Gaia bag dupe.

Last but not least is the only tankini of the bunch,  number 5.  I love the fuchsia color of this suit and the scallops.  It is dainty, pretty, and quite feminine.  This swimsuit would be one I could see wearing high-heeled flip-flops with and not looking like a weirdo.  It looks like it would be great for sitting poolside sipping Piña coladas  and tanning, but it also could hold its own against the waves on a beach day.  I love a dual purpose swimsuit.

That ends the roundup for 2018.  What do you guys think?  How do you stand on the two piece v one piece swimsuits?  Let me know in the comments below!

    • I’m thinking of the one from Old Navy, number 11. I like how the bottoms are higher on the waist. I feel like I should try to rock a sorta bikini this year and see how it goes. 😉 Stay tuned to the insta to find out if I do or not!
